Boo! October is officially here which means it's the most wonderful time of the year, Halloween season! I absolutely love Halloween and getting dressed up, going to parties, seeing what everyone goes as. It's just so much fun and I don't think you ever grow out of it. My only complaint is that in most cases you only get to go out as one thing. Well, the great thing about being a beauty blogger is that Halloween lasts for the whole month and you get to try out tons of different ideas.

This look is something I put together way back in June while I was trying to do a copy-cat version of one of my all time favorite looks, which is the Volcanic Lightning Storm look by Ronnie of Bows and Curtseys. I'd always wanted to try it, but I also wanted to put my own spin on it so I darkened it, gave it some dramatic gradient brows, glitter liner and dark lips. Well, by the time I was done I looked like something of a Disney Villainess so I figured that I'd put the look in layaway and bring it out at Halloween time as makeup for a Maleficent costume. Here you can see the original and my inspired version side by side:

I adore how smokey and seductive the original one is and I wish I could have captured more of that essence in my recreation, but I also really love how sinister mine turned out with the dark lips and brows. I think my version would be an amazing compliment to any witch costume or sexy sorceress type costume as well, even a Black Widow costume might suit this look. Anyways, here are some more close up shots of the eyes & face:

Obviously at the time I wasn't planning on this being a Halloween look or else I would have put together a costume & wig combo to go along with it, but personally I think this makeup would be perfect for a sexy Maleficent Halloween costume. You could even switch the silver lid color for something green if you wanted:

Here's the tutorial if you're interested in trying it out for yourself this Halloween season:

Hi everyone. Today's look/tutorial is actually a recreation of a look that was originally done by fellow beauty guru ilovemyaddiction (check out her Facebook Fan Page here). I've been a fan/admirer of her work for a while now and when I saw this look posted on Makeup Geek's idea gallery I just had to try it out for myself. I didn't have a tutorial or product list to go off, so what I used and how I created the look is probably a little different from her version. I included the original photo in the post below so you can see what I used for the inspiration. Imitation (with credit) is the sincerest form of flattery.

As with pretty much any recreation I've ever done, the original version is always more sophisticated & subtle, whereas my versions tend to crank up the color and drama. I just can't help myself! My style lives to be loud. Anyways I think it turned out beauitfully and I loved wearing this look so much I didn't even care how intense it was (I actually wore it out to the grocery store because I'm fierce like that). It's so beautiful and uses such an interesting combo of colors that I really think you'll enjoy this tutorial so come on in and take a look at some of the pretty pictures!

This is the original look by ILoveMyAddiction. Not quite as colorful, but still smokey and sensational. Be sure to check out her Facebook page and show her some love. She's seriously talented & inspirational!

And here's my tutorial on how I achieved the recreation. Enjoy:

Sigh. The leaves have officially started changing which means that summer is absolutely, definitely over. However, I do love to console myself with the reminder that this just means that it's finally time for me to bust out all the rich, dark, warm colors of fall makeup that I love so much!

This look was inspired by the changing of the leaves. The summery greens of the trees starts to ebb and fade, replaced by rich purples, reds, oranges and golds of the fall foliage. One final, beautiful act of nature before it all goes to snowy shit. Enjoy!

And here's the tutorial for anyone who's interested to see what colors I used/how I put this look together. Until next time, Pigment Pals! xo, Meredith Jessica

I l.o.v.e. fall fashion. So much in fact that it even seems to distract me from both the harsh reality of summer ending and the impending doom of winter. There's just something about wrapping yourself in cozy, stylish layers and walking the shops with a spiced Starbucks drink that makes all your cares just melt away. Am I wrong?

This fall, I've been really into this camo green & burgundy combo. I'm not usually one for military style or prints, but it's been everywhere lately. I guess I figured that owning at least one camo print item seemed inevitable at this point so I caved and gave it a try. Definitely have to admit that I'm loving it more than I thought I would.

As a personal aside, I always need my outfits to have a strong feminine element to them. Though aesthetically I love gender-fuckery & androgyny in fashion, I've always been sensitive about looking too masculine and/or androgynous myself as it was something I was made fun of for a lot when I was younger. I know it's stupid to still be hung up on it, but I would be lying if I denied it's influence on the development of my own fashion sense. Anyways, that being said, with all the masculine elements of this look at play (re: motorcycle jacket, camo print) I tried to femme it up a bit with a sparkly sweater and some fierce shades. What do you think?

Leather jackets are a must for fall, and their biker chic flare is the perfect complement to the badass army print pants. Black booties keep it looking kick ass, while an oversized sweater and cozy infinity scarf are quintessential fall outfit must haves.

I'll admit that when I'm at home I basically live in cozy comfy clothes so I love that during fall you can be cozy and comfy outside of the house as well and it's totally cool. That's why I was instantly drawn to this oversized coffee colored sweater from Romwe that's laced with tiny sequins that catch the sunlight as you walk outside. So gorgeous! See the sweater in detail here if you like.

I added these stone-set earrings from Romwe because they tie in with all the other colors of the outfit, but they also add the most subtle touch of turquoise so they aren't too matchy-matchy (something I still struggle with).

And don't forget to hype me on LookBook if you have an account. I'm just getting started and I'd love some new friends to follow. xo, Meredith Jessica

So, it's September! Fall is officially around the corner. Though I'm always sad to see Summer go, there are lots of exciting things about autumn that I absolutely love. One of those things is the release of Pantone's Fall Color Forecast which I've been using as a source of beauty inspiration for many years now. The problem is, as life gets more hectic I just don't have the time to sit down and create ten different looks, one for each color. So this time around I asked some of my favorite makeup artists to participate with me and together we created this Fall Fashion inspired Makeup Collaboration.

I created my look by combining the two most basic colors in the forecast; Carafe (a warm, bronze brown) and Turbulence (a slick, silvery grey). Inspired by the metallic chain skirt in the sketch, I decided to do a look that used warm metallics on the lid and cool metallics along the lower lashes for an ultra chic, yet totally wearable eye look that would go with any fashion forward fall outfit.

What do you think? Though neutrals might be boring to some, doing them in metallics shades adds a little more excitement and drama to an otherwise almost colorless look.

Here are the links to the other looks in this collaboration. There are some really stunning looks so you should definitely check them all out. Enjoy! Click the images to go to the full post for that look!

Hello Pigment Pals. Time for another instalment of Summertime Style. Gotta get them in while I still can, summer's almost gone! Ack! Anyways, this post is picture heavy, but I think you'll be pretty pleased with the photos inside. This post is filled with all kinds of cute clothes from Romwe. I got a few new pieces from them this month and I've had tons of fun trying them on and experimenting with outfits. Take a look!

These are the three pieces I picked from their online store. It's a bit of an ecclectic mix, but I like to be a bit of a chameleon when it comes to clothing. These pieces are all super affordable and very wearable, which is pretty reflective of Romwe's entire collection of clothing & accessories. So I think you'll definitely find something you like. I've also included suggestions for other items you can get if you don't have the pieces you need to recreate these outfits. Enjoy!

If you want to see more information on any of these products, just follow these links:

Now, on to the outfits! I've put together two totally different ones, so you will have to let me know which one you prefer and why in the comments section below. Enjoy!

This outfit is fun, flirty, funky & above all else floral! I absolutely loved the bright colors of this shirt and I knew it would go perfectly with my brand new neon green skater skirt. I paired it with really simple accessories and finished it off with an updo adorned by more roses. Definitely an eye-catcher for summer!

My skirt is homemade (lovingly, by my incredibly multi-talented boyfriend. thanks babe) but if you don't have the time or ability to make your own, Romwe does sell a similar one which you can get by clicking this link here

You can also get similar accessories by picking up a skinny black belt, like this one or a simple little triangle necklace to finish off the look. Romwe has tons of cheap, funky jewelry to choose from so you can pick anything that suits your personal style. See their full selection here

Here are some other awesome accessories that would totally go with this fun floral print shirt:

This vintage print 'Rings and Rabbits' blouse is so sweet! I mean who doesn't want to wear bunnies on their clothes? To keep the old-school feel of the blouse, I wore it with some pretty lace shorts that I've been obsessed with this summer. In contrast to the first outfit, this look is much more suited to ladies who prefer a more neutral palette. Something for everyone! Enjoy.

If I had some extra money to spend, here are some other options I might have gone with:

So tell me, which outfit is more your style? Do you like to get colorful & creative with your clothes or are you a more understated, classic kind of gal? Or neither? Let me know in the comments below and I hope you'll check out Romwe's site to see all their awesome items. xo, Meredith Jessica
